DACH & BENELUX
The so called German-speaking markets of Europe consist of the following 3 countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, also called DACH countries in international abbreviation, which have one of the highest living standards in Europe.
DACH comes from the initials of these countries: D – Deutschland, A – Austria, CH – Switzerland. The same applies also to the BENELUX countries: BE – Belgium, NE – Netherlands, LUX – Luxembourg
The German-speaking countries have the largest population coverage in Europe. There are 84 million residents in Germany, 9 million residents in Austria and 9 million residents in Switzerland, of which 62.8% speak the German language. In total, about 100 million inhabitants of Europe have the German language as their mother tongue.
In the corresponding BENELUX countries, the residents speak French and Dutch and constitute a population of 30 million. These countries have a similar and, in many cases, the same business mentality as the German-speaking countries.
